Michaleion orphanage Chios
The installation is initiated by two flexible hands, serving as a poignant reminder of the transition of girls into the dormitory space of the orphanage. Contradictory metaphors of reality float alongside elements of rigidity, isolation, and discipline, alternating in an eternal dance of freedom and light, within a journey of transformation and evolution.
The retina is a layer that covers the back of the eye. It is here that the processing of certain characteristics of the image begins, such as color, movement, and form.
The work invites viewers to reflect on childhood memory, innocence, and vulnerability, while recognizing the resilience shaped through formative experiences. By connecting past and present, it explores the lasting emotional traces that define human experience.
